Tanar'ri. Born from the soulstuff of mortals they came, reflecting the evil tendencies of these fragile creatures. Succubi are the manifestations of mortal lust. Glabrezu from mortal envy. And on and on it goes, for the tanar'ri are as varied (if not more so) as the mortals from which they are spawned.

The rare klurichir, in my opinion, is a manifestation of Primal fear. Demogorgon himself might be an "evolved klurichir", if that is the case (and of course, if you agree to FC1's assumption that Demogorgon is pre-dated by the obyriths). However, these demons as statted in FF leave much to be desired; I am under the belief that the current set is outdated. As such, I seek to rebuild it from the ground up.

Here are some notes. Ideas to help me rebuild are welcome; if you think I'm wasting my time, don't bother to say so.

*Target CR:23-25. Stronger than Balor, weaker than an abyss-Infernal.
*Target HD: 24. This leaves room for two epic feats.
*Retain the general appearance of the Klurichir: The 1st thing that caught my attention was the Klurichir's four arms, and insane mouth. Huge size is probably retained.
*It must eat Balors for breakfast. It will survive a Balor's Death Throes with a considerable amount of hp left, and it must contend with (or surpass) a Balor's ability scores. An idea: It has four arms. Perhaps that is an indicator that it will have High dexterity for it's size?
*Deadly pincers: Vorpal pincers, as worded, will kill on a crit. Perhaps we should retain that? Or maybe just give him Devastating Critical with those pincers?
*Virtual Sorcerer levels: I want this one out. It doesn't fit the flavor to have a spellcasting progression that "focuses on Abjuration and Evocation spells".

You might find this thread helpful.

Bear in mind that U_K has different CR system. Iinm, he puts the stock balor's cr on low 30s.

KD also has his take.

I still haven't thought anything about revising the demon that scares balor away. But my take will certainly retain its CR and enough to give a solar a pause.
