|
Soup geeks?
This thread is for announcing upcoming movies, and for telling everyone to assemble and see it, org field trip style. Follow this format:
What: So, what you want us to see? Title, and maybe short summary (as in 2-3 sentences short, optional)
Where: Where d'you wanna see it? Venue is very important. Preferably accessible and affordable, but this can be eschewed for spatial occasions.
When: When d'you wanna see it? This should include assembly time, etc. Then you have your people call my people and we'll see if we can't make room in our schedules for that.
Anyone who wants in just says so on this thread. The original poster has to change the original post accordingly if any details have changed, etc. Then, when someone wants to call org movie night on some other movie, or for no reason, just make a new post. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. For starters...
What: Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Johnny Depp? Tim Burton? HELENA BONHAM-CARTER?! Yes please.
Where: Greenhills
Relatively close to everyone, probably affordable. There you go!
When: Saturday, January 26, 2007.
Nothing to do that weekend (except lol DotA tourney on sunday). Anyway, meet up a bit after lunch I guess? Text around (text me, in particular) and we'll work our way from there.
So who's in, faggits? _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Trinoma = teh far! 20 minutes by bike vs. one hour by MRT, hmm...
Plus Trinoma is like, full of JLo's. So magulo compared to TMall, Vmall, and all the ibang GH malls.
(the cono bug. It infects!!)
Seriously, I don't mind either way, although I'm slightly more inclined toward Greenhills. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

If we're talking distance here, I'd pull for Mall of Asia all the way. But I wanna be fair, so let's go with the middle ground. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

I prefer Rob's metroeast if we're talking distance.
Trinoma/SM north is my middle ground. Greenhills is like 3 jeep rides+1 mrt or 1 jeep ride + lrt + mrt to me, both going there and going back home. With trinoma i can cut down that one mrt ride.
2 hard votes trinoma (silver, xtian)
1 hard for greenhills (revan)
2 soft vote for greenhills (bj, jaykie [i assume BB is a softvoter])
soft vote = good either way. _________________ solbergb on sorcerers:

I'm very iffy with trinoma as I have to run off and grab stuff in the morning, and it'll be hard to run all the away to Trinoma instead of Greenhills. It'll be dicey for me to get to trinoma in time.
We'll see. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Okay, although I'm still not shifting to a hard vote, I'd like to point out that trinormal is teh boring. Not a lot of stuff to see there, plus the current Trinormal crowd is less than ideal.
Greenhills, otoh, has tiangge. Where you can buy anything from clothes to taba ng talangka to pirated dvd's lol. (disclaimer: don't support piracy) Shoppesville has Magic cards, clothes, pirated PC software (don't support piracy), and cool gumball machines. promenade has the awesome cafe Xocolat, Go Nuts Doughnuts, and a piano that plays by itself. BY ITSELLLF!!
Oh, and it's easier to find money download centers in GH than in Trinormal.
And if you wanna say,
Quote: | But we're just going to a mall to watch a movie |
then you do not understand the concept of malling. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Very well. I thought people in this thread are smart enough, and that I didn't have to explain.
Movie-going, in Metro Manila at least, involves the mall. A fact we can't dismiss.
Movie-goers want to do stuff after malling, if only to prolong their time together. thus they go around the vicinity of the theater, window-shopping, buying stuff, etc. Thus the choice of mall is quite important to the average movie-buff. Distances aside, Trinoma has little to offer beyond their good theaters; that makes it a good, but not great choice.
As opposed to Greenhills, which is known for the multitude of things one could find there. Plus their theatre is on par with that of Trinoma's.
As a counterexample, Greenbelt has awesome theatres. However, around the mall all you see are stuff that cater to the upperclass crowd, making it a poor choice for a group of middle-classed movie-goers.
Greenhills trumps both locations. Trinoma is supposed to cater to the middle-upperclass crowd, but because of it's location has attracted the distasteful people. Otoh, Greenbelt, while closest to me, just is not in our financial budget.
Note that my argument is geared towards level of fun as opposed to distance. Why? I believe distance can be solved; we have access to MRT/LRT/whatnot, plus two of us have cars. if we go to Trinoma it is not as exciting.
And I was simply telling people the advantages of going to Greenhills over Trinoma. We are going to a movie, and by extension we are malling. This is why my vote for GH was soft.
But since some people insist on absolutes, then I am now changing mine to a HARD VOTE FOR GREENHILLS. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Hard vote for Trinoma.
It has NG + Courtside.
Nearby is SM with ComicQuest, Filbars, and Courtside too.
Also Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram.

This is getting confusing, and we're lacking time. Thus, as original poster, I speak with utter finality on this one:
It's Greenhills or nothing
Of course if you guys disagree and would rather watch at Trinoma, that's fine with me. But I'll be at greenhills 2 pm tomorrow, as agreed upon. _________________ And I'm still, still longing. Still cold... so cold. |

Huh. It seems like a split crowd. Do what thou wilt. I'm gonna be at GH.
Clarification: In a nutshell, my idea was that GH is a more fun-filled place than Trinoma. SM is irrelevant; while near the place, it still requires a significant effort to get from one mall to the other (blame MMDA anti-Jaywalking for this).
If you do not agree with that opinion, then it's okay. Ultimately, you can go to Trinoma if you guys want. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Huh. You explained your point which means you think we are not smart enough. No poo flinging please. The ultimate point of discussion is to choose which place majority of the people want to watch movie and not the people inside it, things you can buy, etc. Convinience is the primary factor of the decision making as you can read from the people's posts. Then you tried to convince us Trinoma-voters that Greenhills is better but you didn't address the concern of Trinoma-voters: Convinience. The convience of going to the movie place trumphs the atmosphere of the movie place in question.
I'm not saying that pointing out which is a better environment (assuming i won't refute that) is invalid. Kitty is nice enough to give some things to see in Trinoma.

*Flushes spare poo down the toilet*
There.
I did not explain the convenience factor any longer because all that is to be said about that point has already been, well, said. I did mention though that two of us have cars; that lessens (though admittedly does not totally eliminate) the inconvenience factor. That in my opinion relates to the Trinoma-voters' dilemna. Was it not enough? You decide.
people kind enough to point out Trinoma's perks as a location, such as Athanasia, are welcome.
Xtian wrote: | You can jog around acad oval but not walk from trinoma to sm.

The circumstances are different. With jogging, I'm in jog clothes. It's okay to sweat. When I'm at the mall, I prefer to keep smelling like a guy from an axe commercial.
And in b_b's defense, he made a to the point decision because we're taking too much time to talk about this. Unfortunately the event we're planning is just a tad bit over 12 hours away. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

You won't be sweating and smelling that bad anyway. And when in doubt, bring axe.
The point i moot anyway.

So you'd rather continue this tirade until the wee hours of morning, and get everyone confused on where to go? I'm not saying it's the best decision. I'm saying we don't have time to discuss this anymore.
The way I'm currently seeing this, it's a split group. Half goes to Trinoma, half goes to Greenhills. not the best decision in the name of unity, yes, but it's better than having confused people in the morning. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

Loaded question. The question assumes that I want to continue, and everyone would be confused in the morning. And I'm not discussing anything anymore other than reply to some posts.
The root of this is that I pointed out b_b can't make decisions for others (and he agreed with me, btw). You saying I want to continue this till morning (which i can, but don't want) does not follow your another moot point of defending b_b.
Just pointing out some logical fallacies of your posts. _________________ solbergb on sorcerers:
