boy_bakal's Arc Chap. 3
Samael and the Acanthus Lady (for lack of a better name that doesn't include cuss words) talk. She broaches an offer and asks for a meeting in neutral grounds. The event ends without so much as a hitch.
Devil Grass hacks into the U.P. system and hits gold, getting a list of Delta Epsilon members. Further, he finds out that Epsilon Delta has recruited a number of Freshmen into their numbers.
River Coins' search also bears fruit. The location of the leylines are established and the Cabal now believes the Math Building to be the location of their Sanctum.
Armed with this new knowledge, Devil Grass, Sevens, Samael, Jackal and El Mariachi decide to conduct a night raid to mess with their mana. Things go bad however as, upon nearing the tower, they suddenly feel it calling towards them. Initially only Samael and Sevens resist though all their attempts to save their comrades prove futile (Sevens even went as far as stabbing Mariachi). Eventually Devil Grass breaks free and makes a run for safety whilst Sevens and Samael are helpless as Jackal touches the tower and is sent to hell knows where and El Mariachi betrays the Cabal, taking his place as king of Epsilon Delta. Further, it seems Raja is very much linked with Epsilon Delta and the tower.
With the night ending in disaster, Sevens, Samael and Devil Grass are forced to flee leaving behind Jackal, a prisoner, and Mariachi, a new threat. _________________ All hail the Bongolian Ultraprawn! |

boy_bakal's Arc Chapter 4
The Cabal prepared. And prepared. And tried to call up their allies. Guess what? None of them showed up, other than Creature. The Sleepwalker army that they rallied were defenseless against the mind magics of the Epsilon Delta's defenses, so they were quickly dismissed, and the mages continued on towards the tower.
River Coins, using his Prime Supernal Vision, saw an Ivory Tower looming over the Math Building. His attempts to fry it with lightning didn't work, and since the rest of the cabal were now being lured by mystical magics, he decided to go along with them.
Inside the lobby, they confront Rajah, El Mariachi, and the Acanthus bitch, the leaders of Epsilon Delta. The Acanthus bitch calls on the bulk of the frat to assist, and a dozen mages show up to attack... and then Creature jumps down from the top floor of the Math Building in a fireball , and leaves a smoldering crater where the army used to be.
The fight starts out in earnest. Sevens manages to hurt the Acanthus, but the bitch's retaliation takes Sevens out of the fight. Rajah and Samael aim for one another automatically, and while Samael manages to deal a lot of damage, Rajah shrugs it off and kills Samael. Only temporarily, of course, but that still hurt. Rajah proceeds to begin making Samael's next death permanent.
The Acanthus moves over to Devil Grass and River Coins, who are also keeping El Mariachi's lucky guitar hostage. River Coins succeeds in grappling the bitch and taking her down, and proceeds to start pummeling her. Devil Grass, even if he's high as a cuckoo bird, manages to deal the killing blow on the Acanthus using a sword he borrowed from Samael. Meanwhile, El Mariachi stays out of the fray and picks up his guitar while its hostage takers are distracted. And starts playing the damn thing.
Rajah curses River Coins, reducing his strength to 0, but River Coins blasts him with Telekinesis from the other side of the room. Finally, he is weakened to nearly dying, and River Coins' killing blast is countered by El Mariachi, who decides he wants to finish off Rajah himself. He takes aim at Rajah point blank... and misses. Rajah returns the favor by killing El Mariachi as well.
And then Devil Grass stabs him with the sword. Killing him, for reals.
After the two mages revive their fallen comrades, including El Mariachi whose mental hold was broken by the trauma of death, (Life Magic ritual FTW) the Cabal proceeds to destroy the tower by sucking away all the mana in there. This releases Jackal, who had been trapped inside the Tower. Then Creature and River Coins burn the Math Building to destroy all evidence. And two Epsilon Delta lackeys who had been driven insane are framed up by all this.
As a reward, they Cabal get NOTHING from the Concilium. Whee. _________________ Currently Running: NOTHING

Diliman By Night: The Sins of the Fathers
Chapter 1: The Whore's Emerald
Storyteller: BJ
Two years have passed since the fall of the False Tower. Things move on. Some people graduate, some people don't and the magi who were once the Council of Seven continue their individual quests for Ascension, until they are interrupted by a summons from the local Guardian of the Veil Interfector.
Arriving at the Bastion's meeting place in Intramuros, the cabal is given an offer by the Interfector: A powerful artifact, the Cartwright Emerald, has gone missing, and its caretaker, a visiting Mysterium professor, is dead. If they can retrieve it, they can either keep the artifact, or instead receive a favor from the Bastion at a later date.
The cabal first takes its time investigating the nature of the Emerald, quickly determining that the item itself seems to hold a curse that causes its bearers to destroy or be destroyed by the ones they love. The cabal is having none of that shite. They tell the Bastion that they'd rather take the favor, thank you very much.
Afterwards, the cabal investigates the murder scene, a nondescript motel room near Quiapo. Interrogating a lust-spirit, they determine the identity of the prostitute that killed the Mysterium mage and stole the Cartwright Emerald.
The cabal enters Quiapo to follow up on leads. Mac and Rivercoins go barhopping while Samael and Sevens watch the car. Mac and Rivercoins quickly manage to secure an audience with the new "Bitch-Queen of Quiapo." Stranger things happen to Samael and Sevens.
Samael is accosted by a street fortune teller. He attempts to shoo her off, only to realize that he is no longer where he once was. Sevens and the car have disappeared. Immediately made wary, Samael checks, but does not find any evidence of mind control. With little other choice, and with his defenses raised, he listens to what she has to say. She introduces herself as Ananke and delivers a prophecy concerning a Harlot, a Beast, and Atlantis. As the she finishes her proclamation, she disappears, and Samael finds himself dodging for his life in the middle of EDSA and staring up at a billboard of Dimples the Elder.
Sevens on the other hand is accosted by a street thug who wants to take the car. Sevens being sevens, this ends in a fight. The thug shoots up the car, shattering glass and ruining the detailing, and Sevens retaliates by mauling him badly. The thug runs off and threatens revenge.
The time arrives for the meeting with the Bitch Queen, and what should have been a simple business transaction is complicated when an injured mook recognizes Sevens. The meeting dissolves into a firefight that almost claims the lives of the cabal, until a lucky shot incapacitates the Bitch Queen and sends the thugs running.
However, all is not as it seems. The Emerald the Queen was wearing was a fake. The gem conceals a gloating letter from a Seer of the Throne named Aeshma, who mocks the cabal and declares her intent to meet them.
The cabal is left with a two-bit fake gemstone, a letter, and a prophecy predicting dire things. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Diliman by Night: Sins of the Fathers
Chapter 2: Pyramid Schemes
Storyteller: BJ
Time: Late October 2009
The injured cabal drives to the AFP's V Luna hospital to meet a local Thunderbolt Sage, Sheeva, aka Colonel Magtibay. They warn her of the activities of the Seers of the Throne, and in addition seek her aid in healing. She agrees, but only if the cabal proves itself worthy. After a magically enhanced boxing match, River Coins manages to achieve victory, and Sheeva relents, casting healing spells for Sevens and Mac.
The cabal decides to meet this "Aeshma" at CIBO, Gateway, where they meet an unfailingly polite and surprisingly naive young mage who has been taken in by the Seers of the Throne. Aeshma herself is nice enough, but the cabal is wary enough to be on their guard, eventually spotting at least three agents playing overwatch for Aeshma: a married couple and an old man reading a newspaper. The meeting ends amicably, but the agents almost prevent the cabal from taking sympathetic evidence from Aeshma and the newspaper reader.
After this, the cabal seeks further advice from Alab, the local Councilor for the Free Council, who is, by day, the frontman of the band Kjwan. Alab gives the cabal a primer on the nature of the Seers of the Throne, and agrees to provide limited assistance in the cabal's attempts to track down the Seers. Samael also talks in private with Dimples concerning a prophecy that seems to be trying to bind them together, and Dimples reveals that the bearer of the prophecy, Ananke, bears the same name as her unknown mother. The pair part warily, both aware of larger manipulations brewing around them.
After being warned of the Panopticon Ministry's abilities at infiltration, the cabal carefully inspects their territories, spotting bugs both mundane and magical. After careful sweeping, the cabal decides to strike back against the sleepers, running a counter-intelligence strike using themselves as bait.
Again the cabal meets Aeshma, this time in UP, playing a polite game of diplomacy and discussing the Seers' offers to the cabal. During the meeting, the cabal is able to isolate at least two sources of surveillance: one near an isaw stand, and another in the Chapel of the Holy Sacrifice. As the meeting concludes, the cabal breaks off to intercept Aeshma's handlers before they can exfiltrate, resulting in a pitched battle between the mages and a pair of Myrmidons and another Seer mage masquerading as a priest, (aka newspaper man). Though Sevens is gravely injured, the cabal dispatches the Myrmidons, while allowing the priest to escape. But the cabal has a trophy: the priest's dedicated magical tool, with which they can launch a sympathetic attack or backtrace.
The chapter ends with the cabal being educated as to the nature of the various ministries, a better understanding of Aeshma, a healthy respect for the martial skills of the Myrmidons, and items taken from Aeshma and the Seer Priest that can be used for a sympathetic attack or backtrace. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. Ping!
Just to keep the board alive, and also to drop this link to a Manila by Night game that's an offshoot of our old Diliman by Night Chronicle.
