I'm so glad you have a bow and not... two scimitars. Laughing

I'll check the format in a bit.

Well, I plan to buy a set of the books but I think I'll be waiting for 4E PHB 2 to come out first. I'd love to play psionics. Twisted Evil

But PHB2 won't have psionics. Confused It has Arcane, Divine, and Primal (barbarrrrriiiiaaaaaan!!!!).

I believe Psionics comes out in PHB3. @.@

Well, I think PHB2 is going to be great. XD Barbarian, Druid, Shaman, Sorcerer are confirmed. Bard should also show up...

EDIT: Bard is confirmed. It's first ten levels are even previewed in Dragon_369. I want to play my favorite class again... Twisted Evil

I'd love to create a druid hope they didn't make any tweaks for the animal companion build.

I'm more optimistic with the Animal Companion than erwin. I mean, the ranger will get the companion build in Martial Power, so even if we don't immediately see it, I'm fairly certain that the Primal Power sourcebook will have something similar.

What's sure about the Druid is Wildshape. Controller or Defender?

Guys, me thinks you should discuss this somewhere else. This is for my character's space anyway, agree? Very Happy

By the power of Greyskull!

*thread moved*

To continue the discussion, yeps, Martial Power will have the Companion Build for the Ranger. You'll get that as a possible replacement to the Archery/Two-Blade Fighting Style.

It comes out this month. I'm getting it as soon as I am able.

I'm actually thinking if I should pre-order PHB2 and MM2 on Amazon already. Primal Power Source? Demogorgon? Metallic Dragons? Bard? WotC knows how to squeeze money out of me. Laughing

I still think it unfair that the Ranger won over the Druid for the Animal Companion. I mean, don't Druids virtually *own* the wilds? Don't they eat Rangers just for fun?

Druids might have the upper hand, after all, they "become" the wild while Rangers still have to ask permission from mother nature.

I agree with oghma. Wildshaping represents a better mastery of the wild as opposed to Animal Companions. If they end up not getting one, I'll be okay with it.

PHB2 Previews!

sample characters

After trying to view them, even with their small texts:

Gnomes have ghost sound as an encounter power, lolz.
*+5 saves vs illusion
*still has reactive stealth (but I think it's somehow changed)
*fey origin
*+2 Arcana, +2 Stealth (?) -- weird about the char sheet is it has Stealth +11, even though it only has Dex 13.
*and Fade Away is still there, so must mean they have 2 encounter powers?

Deva
*Astral Majesty: +1 to all defenses vs bloodies foes
*Astral Resistance: resist necrotic and radiant equal to 5 + 1/2 level (not sure)
*Immortal Origin
*Common, and 2 other languages(?)
*I'm guessing they have +2 History, +2 Religion (based on the char sheet)
*Memory of a Thousand Lifetimes (encounter power)
not sure waht action (it's in the edge of pic), personal
Trigger: made a d20 roll and dislike the result
Effect: add 1d8 to the roll
O_O

Goliath
*Power Athlete: roll 2x when Athletics to jump/climb; keep better result
*+2 Athletics, +2 Endurance (?)
*Common, Dwarven
*Stone's Endurance (encounter power)
Minor action Personal
Effect: resist 5 to all damage until end of your next turn

Half-Orc
*Half-orc resilience: when first time bloodies in an encounter, gain 5 hp
*Swift charge: +2 to speed when charging (orc heritage lolz)
*+2 Intimidate, +2 Endurance
*Common, Giant
*Furious Assault (encounter power)
Free action Personal
Trigger: You hit an enemy
Effect: the attack deals 1{W} additional damage if it's a weapon attack, or 1d8 if it isn't

FEATS:
*Sorcerous Blade Channeling: when you use any ranged attack power thru your dagger, you can use the power as a melee attack with a range of your melee reach
(alright! melee sorcerer build complete Twisted Evil )

*Radiant Power: -2 to attack for +2 damage with implements
(I'm guessing it only works on radiant powers, or a Deva thing..)

*Weapon Expertise: not stated, but I'm guessing +1 to attack rolls with chosen weapon, like 3.5 weapon focus

*Implement Expertise: same as weapon expertise, except implements

*Improve Warforged Resolve: no idea

AVENGER!!
*Armor of Faith: +3 to AC in light armor and no shield (swordmage warding?)
*XXXX of Pursuit (can't read it): if target of *Oath* moves away, +5 damage against it on next attack until end of next turn
*Channel Divinity: Abjure Undead -- pulls undead and immobilizes it
*Channel Divinity: Divine Guidance
Imm Interrupt Close burst 10
Trigger: An ally within range 10 attacks enemy under *Oath*
Target: The ally
Effect: The ally makes a 2nd attack roll and uses either result
(Elven accuracy for friends Razz)
*Oath of Enmity: encounter(special), divine
move action close burst 10
Effect: --- can't actually read it, but it involves something like divine challenge, but needs to be alone (you're the only one adjacent to it). Can't read the rest of the fine print.

I HOPE THIS DOESN"T GET MUDHOLED DUE TO GSL or ANYTHING, WORK SO HARD FOR IT. T_T

So, who else has managed to snag a copy of PHB2? So far I haven't read all of it, but 4E sorcerers are looking especially tasty.

I'm really interested in the new Feats and rules tweaks they put in.

For example, my Gish-style Wizard really likes the new Implement Expertise and Melee Training feats.

Implement Expertise gives me a +1 to attack rolls with any implement power, for the specific implement I got. It scales to +2 at Level 15 and +3 at level 25. This really fixes the rather low hit rate of my orb-Wizard.

Melee Training allows me to use an ability score other than Strength as when making melee basic attacks with a weapon I'm proficient with. This lets me drop both Swordmage Multiclass and Intelligent Blademaster, since I can get with 2 feats (Melee Training + Weapon Proficiency: Longsword) what it took me 3 feats (SM Multiclass + Intelligent Blademaster +WP: Longsword) to accomplish before.

I am so in love with Melee Training! It also means my Charisma-based Paladin can use non-Heavy Blade weapons now, since he doesn't have to rely on Heavy Blade Opportunity to hit enemies with Opportunity Attacks. Likewise, my Charisma-Rogue doesn't need to put points in Strength to hit with OAs or when charging, since he can now use his much superior Dex to unleash stabbity death.

Oh, and the new Nature and Bardic rituals are pretty nifty. They're so good I'm pretty compelled to go convince my party rangers to pick up Ritual Casting so they can go cast Call Wilderness or Create Campsite.
