WARNING
The following campaign features mature themes. Viewer/reader/player discretion is advised.

Wasteland
A Bonethrall game
Type Tabletop, somewhat RP-intensive, moderate combat frequency
Character Levels 1-30
Players 5
Campaign Frequency Monthly, and/or by request
Campaign Synopsis
Amidst the wasteland New Eurisia thrives. From near-annihilation its people rebuilt the city from nothing, and now she stands tall and proud and close to her former glory. Her walls protect her, her economy thrives, her people are happy. All's right in the world...

...or so it would seem.

In actuality New Eurisia is as barren and desperate as the rest of the world. She is home to so many familiar yet fearful creatures, as the iron grip of the five families casts a looming shadow over the city. The collective progress of the entire city comes at a very high cost.

But a new threat is plaguing the streets of New Eurisia. The Blacklily Family of Halflings has discovered an inventive use of a particular type of godstone. By grinding these godstones and snorting the powder up the nose it produces a euphoric effect that lasts for several minutes. This godstone powder has been circulating around New Eurisia for a few months now. Highly addictive and with no apparent side effects, the Blacklily Family grew rapidly in power and wealth, to the extent that the other four families can't possibly compete.

For now, at least.
-------------------------
This campaign I'm planning will be rather mature. It'll have its fun moments, sure, but by and large it'll involve a lot of moral grey areas and the like. As such, I'll be expecting mature players.

Game is monthly, though I can run special sessions by request, if I'm not too busy. Every second Saturday (just like MoA) over at the condo. It'll last well past this sem, I'm fairly certain. It could potentially be quite lethal, but we'll see.

Interested players please say if they want to join. I have room for 4 more players flat; BJ has already said he will be playing. It'll have a lot of homebrew elements to it so bear with me. Suffice to say common sense wouldn't hurt your chances at survival Razz

I'm a given. I'll post my character by tomorrow, and she'll be a striker. I'll keep Ereth Aurshilk open for Revan's game.

@BB: Okay, cool concept (as we discussed during the OGM), but here's the thing, aren't we going for the entire "episodic" one-shot sorta thing? It's great to see another Bonethrall game out there, but is it a campaign or a one-shot? Or a series of one-shots?

Does the "Level 1-30" tag mean that you'll take in characters from level 1-30, or does it mean that the characters will progress from level 1 to 30?

Just wanted to clear up the tech matters.

Campaign, definitely. And progress from 1-30. Although, as with my other games, I will allow certain "level-grinding" sessions, i.e. sessions filled with only combat from start to finish for the express purpose of gaining exp, and possibly gp. Also, as with my other games, these sessions are by request--players need only inform me ahead of time, choose a nearby feasible location, and let the random encounters roll.

Yups. Characters who join this game will be unique in that it's gonna be locked to this game their whole careers. They won't be able to join other BT games. It mostly appeals to us older guys whose schedules are not dependent on semesters.

It'll take us about two years to get to level 30, though, if my estimate is correct.

So those who join this one should really be devoted.

@supertotoy: write up a character, feel free to join. we'd be glad to have you. Smile

@everybody: this month seems unlikely for a game due to academic commitments. though i might be able to pull off something around the end of the month. but definitely expect a game by second week of august. so write up your characters now! and be sure you can commit to this game, because i really want to run this like clockwork.

also, as much as possible, try to make sure the basic party roles are covered. i'm certainly not going to pull any punches with the threats i'll be preparing, so plan accordingly.

to recap, current players are BJ, Q, and supertotoy. 2 more players and we're set.

EDIT: Sorry for all the name changes guys, still trying to come up with what works best. For now, though, I think we're good.

EDIT: City's name changed from New Lysea to New Eurisia (since the latter sounds closer to New York). I know, it's like Eurisia, Eurasia... whatever. I figure by and large that's forgivable.

Hmm, since we're officially locking the characters of this game (ie, they can't withraw and join other games), I believe it's okay to give them accelerated xp. Cool

^really? Because, if so, I could run it at 1.5 exp. It doesn't reduce session number/frequency, but it will reduce the planned encounter level, which should result in a higher survival rate...

I need to discuss it with my players. I have to be sure that, if you commit to this game, then you'll all show up regularly. So I'll double-check and get back to you, ok?

ANNOUNCEMENT

To all my players: I've decided to enable stat rolls as per 3.5. So, if you like, you can make two sets of 4d6.DropLowest rolls, but you can't point buy if you choose to exercise this option. Rules for re-rolls apply as per 3.5 rules also. One caveat: I'll only accept rolls I can see in person. That means no invicastle.

...and no, I won't be doing the "scrap this roll if it's too high" suggestion in the PHB Razz Barring re-rolls, what you roll is what you get.

Because you're basically making sure that your character won't make it to BT canon.

I'm just saying, Zangief is kind of connected to some other character already. If you make a character that feels like him, sounds like him et al, then it isn't original enough to warrant BT canon. But you'll be able to play nonetheless.

The thing is... you don't think of a name. The name should come to you. That's how I name most of my characters, my mouth just utters a set of sounds. Laughing

Actually, I try to think a name for my character before actually making its stats, at least a nickname or something. That kinda motivates me for its flavor, as this is role-playing game we're playing.

I named it Zangief because this guy kinda look like him, sort of. And to think that a halfling has a name like that is awesome. Very Happy

Now you tell me :/

I can't change the sked anymore, because I thought we were ok. It's only once a month; just tell your boss you've got family commitments or some such.

As I see it the only alternative I can think of is playing at crab, but I would rather not, to be honest.
