The Ruined Sea
A Bonethrall game
Type Tabletop, Combat Heavy
Character Levels 1-3
Schedule: Wednesdays 1-4
Players 5
Campaign Synopsis She lies on the edge of the ruined world, past Rockport, the last true city of the south. She is the unconquerable; the city that is not a city whose name in any tongue is her purpose for no other name fits her. In translated common, she is simply called The Fort, ancient relic of the Godfall war and crown city of the remnant dwarves, occupied only thrice a month in every year on the festival of Deliverance where all the dwarf-lords of the known world meet. The festival is coming again in two months and already do the dwarves and merchants of every civilized race congregate around Rockport in preparation to cross the Ruined Sea.
The Ruined Sea’s name is misleading. It may have once been a sea or so the old stories say for it was said that The Fort was built on an island—the last resort for the dwarven race from the folly of the Godfall war. Now however, she stands on top of the the Lonely Plateau, encircled by a rocky waste stretching for miles upon miles, an empty basin surrounded by huge mountains that keep away the sea. The crossing is a two month long agony, first through the haunted remains of lost Kalliope, the last paradise, and then to the barren rocks. Food is scarce as is water for most of the underground rivers that fed Kalliope's wells have now been poisoned by salt when the earth swallowed the sea and though there are places where fresh water can be taken, it is often in the control of one faction or the other for there are numerous tribes of goblins in the Ruined Sea as well as the Halkori, savage men who somehow survive the bleak wasteland. Then there are the wild beasts who prowl the craggy terrain, preying on what little meat can be found.
You and your compatriots, mercenaries all, are one of many hired by Korky Stonewielder, great and terrible among the dwarf-lords, and his party to help see him safely through the treachery of the Ruined Sea as his vanguard so that he may make it in time for the festival of Deliverance.
----
I already have the-bumper-car, juaberman, Revan and oghma expressing interest so only one slot is open unless they don't confirm their spot.
Oh and BJ is asking if you people (the ones mentioned above) can play from 12-3 rather than 1-4 so we can accommodate him. I can but I need to know your schedules.
Edit: I think BJ might join Revan's Friday game instead. Anyways please state your intended roles as well.
BJ Edit: Major ORGASM violation. Moderator warning issued. _________________ All hail the Bongolian Ultraprawn! |

I'm actually interested at AAS' campaign, seeing that I don't have tabletop game for now, and it's the only convenient time (b_b's is on Saturdays, but i has work ).
If there are free slots, I might just join
EDIT: hmm, i forgot that b_b's was monthly lol. but i didn't like the "mature" theme, that's why i didn't join _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

I'm in the game, but I've got a class from 1130-1300, so I'm only go 1300-1600.
Calling dibs on the short range striker role, using my Kyris character for warlock slot. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Thread granted. All discussion regarding the ruined sea will go here.
@Aur Ain Soph: Make sure that, once this thing kicks off, that they update their sheets after every game. If they don't, it will be your duty to PM me xp, equipment, and build changes after every game via PM. Otherwise, the changes won't get reflected onto the official sheets.
Incidentally, your state of the Ruined Sea reflects my idea of how the Astral Sea is idealized. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

I'm joining this campaign, though I'm still considering whether to be a wizard, or swordmage, or another role entirely. (the controller role is still open, though i'm not sure if 'll take it )
Swordmage is part-controller (I think), though the lack of other powers bugs me.
Will post character ASAP. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Well, is anyone throwing in one of the Level 3 characters into this game? That way we have some character able to provide some badass buffer ability, and some fatness. (as well as allowing the rest of us to level quicker) _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Controllers are underappreciated. >.>;; They're win if played right.
Also I'm changing the ruling for the slots. I'm leaving you guys to talk amongst yourselves as to who is plugging in to game or not just as long as there's at least five or six of you. You can probably do four people but keep in mind that I'm making this with five people in mind so, yeah...all up to you guys...
Also I'm good to go tomorrow if there are enough people, which I think there are. _________________ All hail the Bongolian Ultraprawn! |

I've been working on a wizard build for a while.
It's half-control half-war wizard, so don't expect much.
Also, I'll be attacking at melee. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Which is exactly what a thunderwave spamming war-wizard should be doing anyway. By all means, get stuck in. They'll be too busy shooting at you to shoot at little Kyris then. _________________ Words are the only bullets in truth's bandolier. And poets are the snipers.

Yup.
The players were me, oghma, Revan, and AcidBlue.
You read right, it's Acidblue.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As of July 30, 2008:
EXP:
Lvl 1 characters: 465 exp each.
LOOT: (not including mundane gear)
100 gp (so each got 25gp)
+50gp each from contract (RP)
-5gp to Rath (AcidBlue's character)
+80sp to Kyris (Revan's)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty bad for a first session. We could have gotten more if we played it right, and we had the original players, me thinks. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Which characters were used? So far, I can only see Kyris and Simon. And someone tell Acid Blue to post his character here; otherwise all xp gain is null and void. _________________ Nosfecatu Publishing |

oghma used Sparkie. I believe he just posted it.
As for AcidBlue's, I believe he'll post it before next game session. Hopefully.
Else, we'll have to be the one posting it. _________________ There is happiness for those who accept their fate. There is glory for those who defy their fate

Reactions after yesterday's game:
First, the opening part was too dragging. We spent what felt like a lifetime searching, and searching, and searching, and searching. And nobody even argued about anything, which would've brought up a nice break from the monotony. Add the fact that all we found were books... It felt like we were desperately searching for the next plot point. I know you don't want to make us a scavenging team constantly looking for the next +1 Weapon of Awesomeness, AAS, but I do think that there was too much time spent in old abandoned houses where NOTHING is trying to kill us. A bit of a break, like maybe a puzzle, a trap, or even a mini-encounter that HAS to be dealt with while searching would've been much appreciated.
Secondly, we need a defender both during the first and 2nd halves of the game. I understand that Acidblue has class from 2:30 onwards, so can we get someone else to take over his role (not necessarily his character) from that time onwards? Or somebody to double up on defending?
I hope next week's session is more fun! _________________ Currently Running: NOTHING

BTW, this session went by much better - I think the addition of an extra defender, and the fact that oghma actually woke up and made it to the 2nd half of the game, improved the flow of the game.
Also, I had waaaaaay too much fun torturing elves for fun and profit. _________________ Currently Running: NOTHING
